بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ

By heaven and the night-star!

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ

And what shall teach thee what is the night-star?

ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ

The piercing star!

إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌۭ

Over every soul there is a watcher.

فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ

So let man consider of what he was created;

خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍۢ دَافِقٍۢ

he was created of gushing water

يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ

issuing between the loins and the breast-bones.

إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌۭ

Surely He is able to bring him back

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ

upon the day when the secrets are tried,

فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍۢ وَلَا نَاصِرٍۢ

and he shall have no strength, no helper.

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ

By heaven of the returning rain,

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ

by earth splitting with verdure,

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌۭ فَصْلٌۭ

surely it is a decisive word;

وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ

it is no merriment.

إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًۭا

They are devising guile,

وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًۭا

and I am devising guile.

فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا

So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile.
