بِسْمِ
ٱللَّهِ
ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ
ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَيْلٌۭ
لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
1
Woe to the stinters who,
83:1
ٱلَّذِينَ
إِذَا
ٱكْتَالُوا۟
عَلَى
ٱلنَّاسِ
يَسْتَوْفُونَ
2
when they measure against the people, take full measure
83:2
وَإِذَا
كَالُوهُمْ
أَو
وَّزَنُوهُمْ
يُخْسِرُونَ
3
but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp.
83:3
أَلَا
يَظُنُّ
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
أَنَّهُم
مَّبْعُوثُونَ
4
Do those not think that they shall be raised up
83:4
لِيَوْمٍ
عَظِيمٍۢ
5
unto a mighty day
83:5
يَوْمَ
يَقُومُ
ٱلنَّاسُ
لِرَبِّ
ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
6
a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being?
83:6
كَلَّآ
إِنَّ
كِتَٰبَ
ٱلْفُجَّارِ
لَفِى
سِجِّينٍۢ
7
No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin;
83:7
وَمَآ
أَدْرَىٰكَ
مَا
سِجِّينٌۭ
8
and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin?
83:8
كِتَٰبٌۭ
مَّرْقُومٌۭ
9
A book inscribed.
83:9
وَيْلٌۭ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
10
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies,
83:10
ٱلَّذِينَ
يُكَذِّبُونَ
بِيَوْمِ
ٱلدِّينِ
11
who cry lies to the Day of Doom;
83:11
وَمَا
يُكَذِّبُ
بِهِۦٓ
إِلَّا
كُلُّ
مُعْتَدٍ
أَثِيمٍ
12
and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor.
83:12
إِذَا
تُتْلَىٰ
عَلَيْهِ
ءَايَٰتُنَا
قَالَ
أَسَٰطِيرُ
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
13
When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!'
83:13
كَلَّا
بَلْ
رَانَ
عَلَىٰ
قُلُوبِهِم
مَّا
كَانُوا۟
يَكْسِبُونَ
14
No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts.
83:14
كَلَّآ
إِنَّهُمْ
عَن
رَّبِّهِمْ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
15
No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord,
83:15
ثُمَّ
إِنَّهُمْ
لَصَالُوا۟
ٱلْجَحِيمِ
16
then they shall roast in Hell.
83:16
ثُمَّ
يُقَالُ
هَٰذَا
ٱلَّذِى
كُنتُم
بِهِۦ
تُكَذِّبُونَ
17
Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.'
83:17
كَلَّآ
إِنَّ
كِتَٰبَ
ٱلْأَبْرَارِ
لَفِى
عِلِّيِّينَ
18
No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun;
83:18
وَمَآ
أَدْرَىٰكَ
مَا
عِلِّيُّونَ
19
and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun?
83:19
كِتَٰبٌۭ
مَّرْقُومٌۭ
20
A book inscribed,
83:20
يَشْهَدُهُ
ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
21
witnessed by those brought nigh.
83:21
إِنَّ
ٱلْأَبْرَارَ
لَفِى
نَعِيمٍ
22
Surely the pious shall be in bliss,
83:22
عَلَى
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ
يَنظُرُونَ
23
upon couches gazing;
83:23
تَعْرِفُ
فِى
وُجُوهِهِمْ
نَضْرَةَ
ٱلنَّعِيمِ
24
thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss
83:24
يُسْقَوْنَ
مِن
رَّحِيقٍۢ
مَّخْتُومٍ
25
as they are given to drink of a wine sealed
83:25
خِتَٰمُهُۥ
مِسْكٌۭ
وَفِى
ذَٰلِكَ
فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ
ٱلْمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ
26
whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive --
83:26
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ
مِن
تَسْنِيمٍ
27
and whose mixture is Tasnim,
83:27
عَيْنًۭا
يَشْرَبُ
بِهَا
ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
28
a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh.
83:28
إِنَّ
ٱلَّذِينَ
أَجْرَمُوا۟
كَانُوا۟
مِنَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُوا۟
يَضْحَكُونَ
29
Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers,
83:29
وَإِذَا
مَرُّوا۟
بِهِمْ
يَتَغَامَزُونَ
30
when them passed them by winking at one another,
83:30
وَإِذَا
ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟
إِلَىٰٓ
أَهْلِهِمُ
ٱنقَلَبُوا۟
فَكِهِينَ
31
and when they returned to their people they returned blithely,
83:31
وَإِذَا
رَأَوْهُمْ
قَالُوٓا۟
إِنَّ
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
لَضَآلُّونَ
32
and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!'
83:32
وَمَآ
أُرْسِلُوا۟
عَلَيْهِمْ
حَٰفِظِينَ
33
Yet they were not sent as watchers over them.
83:33
فَٱلْيَوْمَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُوا۟
مِنَ
ٱلْكُفَّارِ
يَضْحَكُونَ
34
So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers,
83:34
عَلَى
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ
يَنظُرُونَ
35
upon couches gazing.
83:35
هَلْ
ثُوِّبَ
ٱلْكُفَّارُ
مَا
كَانُوا۟
يَفْعَلُونَ
36
Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing?
83:36
