بِسْمِ
ٱللَّهِ
ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ
ٱلرَّحِيمِ
إِذَا
وَقَعَتِ
ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
1
When the Terror descends
56:1
لَيْسَ
لِوَقْعَتِهَا
كَاذِبَةٌ
2
(and none denies its descending)
56:2
خَافِضَةٌۭ
رَّافِعَةٌ
3
abasing, exalting,
56:3
إِذَا
رُجَّتِ
ٱلْأَرْضُ
رَجًّۭا
4
when the earth shall be rocked
56:4
وَبُسَّتِ
ٱلْجِبَالُ
بَسًّۭا
5
and the mountains crumbled
56:5
فَكَانَتْ
هَبَآءًۭ
مُّنۢبَثًّۭا
6
and become a dust, scattered,
56:6
وَكُنتُمْ
أَزْوَٰجًۭا
ثَلَٰثَةًۭ
7
and you shall be three bands --
56:7
فَأَصْحَٰبُ
ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
مَآ
أَصْحَٰبُ
ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
8
Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!)
56:8
وَأَصْحَٰبُ
ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
مَآ
أَصْحَٰبُ
ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
9
Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!)
56:9
وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ
ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ
10
and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers
56:10
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
11
those are they brought nigh the Throne,
56:11
فِى
جَنَّٰتِ
ٱلنَّعِيمِ
12
in the Gardens of Delight
56:12
ثُلَّةٌۭ
مِّنَ
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
13
(a throng of the ancients
56:13
وَقَلِيلٌۭ
مِّنَ
ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
14
and how few of the later folk)
56:14
عَلَىٰ
سُرُرٍۢ
مَّوْضُونَةٍۢ
15
upon close-wrought couches
56:15
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ
عَلَيْهَا
مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ
16
reclining upon them, set face to face,
56:16
يَطُوفُ
عَلَيْهِمْ
وِلْدَٰنٌۭ
مُّخَلَّدُونَ
17
immortal youths going round about them
56:17
بِأَكْوَابٍۢ
وَأَبَارِيقَ
وَكَأْسٍۢ
مِّن
مَّعِينٍۢ
18
with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring
56:18
لَّا
يُصَدَّعُونَ
عَنْهَا
وَلَا
يُنزِفُونَ
19
(no brows throbbing, no intoxication)
56:19
وَفَٰكِهَةٍۢ
مِّمَّا
يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
20
and such fruits as they shall choose,
56:20
وَلَحْمِ
طَيْرٍۢ
مِّمَّا
يَشْتَهُونَ
21
and such flesh of fowl as they desire,
56:21
وَحُورٌ
عِينٌۭ
22
and wide-eyed houris
56:22
كَأَمْثَٰلِ
ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ
ٱلْمَكْنُونِ
23
as the likeness of hidden pearls,
56:23
جَزَآءًۢ
بِمَا
كَانُوا۟
يَعْمَلُونَ
24
a recompense for that they laboured.
56:24
لَا
يَسْمَعُونَ
فِيهَا
لَغْوًۭا
وَلَا
تَأْثِيمًا
25
Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin,
56:25
إِلَّا
قِيلًۭا
سَلَٰمًۭا
سَلَٰمًۭا
26
only the saying 'Peace, Peace!'
56:26
وَأَصْحَٰبُ
ٱلْيَمِينِ
مَآ
أَصْحَٰبُ
ٱلْيَمِينِ
27
The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!)
56:27
فِى
سِدْرٍۢ
مَّخْضُودٍۢ
28
mid thornless lote-trees
56:28
وَطَلْحٍۢ
مَّنضُودٍۢ
29
and serried acacias,
56:29
وَظِلٍّۢ
مَّمْدُودٍۢ
30
and spreading shade
56:30
وَمَآءٍۢ
مَّسْكُوبٍۢ
31
and outpoured waters,
56:31
وَفَٰكِهَةٍۢ
كَثِيرَةٍۢ
32
and fruits abounding
56:32
لَّا
مَقْطُوعَةٍۢ
وَلَا
مَمْنُوعَةٍۢ
33
unfailing, unforbidden,
56:33
وَفُرُشٍۢ
مَّرْفُوعَةٍ
34
and upraised couches.
56:34
إِنَّآ
أَنشَأْنَٰهُنَّ
إِنشَآءًۭ
35
Perfectly We formed them, perfect,
56:35
فَجَعَلْنَٰهُنَّ
أَبْكَارًا
36
and We made them spotless virgins,
56:36
عُرُبًا
أَتْرَابًۭا
37
chastely amorous,
56:37
لِّأَصْحَٰبِ
ٱلْيَمِينِ
38
like of age for the Companions of the Right.
56:38
ثُلَّةٌۭ
مِّنَ
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
39
A throng of the ancients
56:39
وَثُلَّةٌۭ
مِّنَ
ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
40
and a throng of the later folk.
56:40
وَأَصْحَٰبُ
ٱلشِّمَالِ
مَآ
أَصْحَٰبُ
ٱلشِّمَالِ
41
The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!)
56:41
فِى
سَمُومٍۢ
وَحَمِيمٍۢ
42
mid burning winds and boiling waters
56:42
وَظِلٍّۢ
مِّن
يَحْمُومٍۢ
43
and the shadow of a smoking blaze
56:43
لَّا
بَارِدٍۢ
وَلَا
كَرِيمٍ
44
neither cool, neither goodly;
56:44
إِنَّهُمْ
كَانُوا۟
قَبْلَ
ذَٰلِكَ
مُتْرَفِينَ
45
and before that they lived at ease,
56:45
وَكَانُوا۟
يُصِرُّونَ
عَلَى
ٱلْحِنثِ
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
46
and persisted in the Great Sin,
56:46
وَكَانُوا۟
يَقُولُونَ
أَئِذَا
مِتْنَا
وَكُنَّا
تُرَابًۭا
وَعِظَٰمًا
أَءِنَّا
لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
47
ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up?
56:47
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
48
What, and our fathers, the ancients?'
56:48
قُلْ
إِنَّ
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
وَٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
49
Say: 'The ancients, and the later folk
56:49
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ
إِلَىٰ
مِيقَٰتِ
يَوْمٍۢ
مَّعْلُومٍۢ
50
shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day.
56:50
ثُمَّ
إِنَّكُمْ
أَيُّهَا
ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ
51
Then you erring ones, you that cried lies,
56:51
لَءَاكِلُونَ
مِن
شَجَرٍۢ
مِّن
زَقُّومٍۢ
52
you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum,
56:52
فَمَالِـُٔونَ
مِنْهَا
ٱلْبُطُونَ
53
and you shall fill therewith your bellies
56:53
فَشَٰرِبُونَ
عَلَيْهِ
مِنَ
ٱلْحَمِيمِ
54
and drink on top of that boiling water
56:54
فَشَٰرِبُونَ
شُرْبَ
ٱلْهِيمِ
55
lapping it down like thirsty camels.'
56:55
هَٰذَا
نُزُلُهُمْ
يَوْمَ
ٱلدِّينِ
56
This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom.
56:56
نَحْنُ
خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ
فَلَوْلَا
تُصَدِّقُونَ
57
We created you; therefore why will you not believe?
56:57
أَفَرَءَيْتُم
مَّا
تُمْنُونَ
58
Have you considered the seed you spill?
56:58
ءَأَنتُمْ
تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ
أَمْ
نَحْنُ
ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ
59
Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators?
56:59
نَحْنُ
قَدَّرْنَا
بَيْنَكُمُ
ٱلْمَوْتَ
وَمَا
نَحْنُ
بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
60
We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped;
56:60
عَلَىٰٓ
أَن
نُّبَدِّلَ
أَمْثَٰلَكُمْ
وَنُنشِئَكُمْ
فِى
مَا
لَا
تَعْلَمُونَ
61
that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not.
56:61
وَلَقَدْ
عَلِمْتُمُ
ٱلنَّشْأَةَ
ٱلْأُولَىٰ
فَلَوْلَا
تَذَكَّرُونَ
62
You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember?
56:62
أَفَرَءَيْتُم
مَّا
تَحْرُثُونَ
63
Have you considered the soil you till?
56:63
ءَأَنتُمْ
تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ
أَمْ
نَحْنُ
ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ
64
Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers?
56:64
لَوْ
نَشَآءُ
لَجَعَلْنَٰهُ
حُطَٰمًۭا
فَظَلْتُمْ
تَفَكَّهُونَ
65
Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting --
56:65
إِنَّا
لَمُغْرَمُونَ
66
'We are debt-loaded;
56:66
بَلْ
نَحْنُ
مَحْرُومُونَ
67
nay, we have been robbed!'
56:67
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ
ٱلْمَآءَ
ٱلَّذِى
تَشْرَبُونَ
68
Have you considered the water you drink?
56:68
ءَأَنتُمْ
أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ
مِنَ
ٱلْمُزْنِ
أَمْ
نَحْنُ
ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ
69
Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it?
56:69
لَوْ
نَشَآءُ
جَعَلْنَٰهُ
أُجَاجًۭا
فَلَوْلَا
تَشْكُرُونَ
70
Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful?
56:70
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ
ٱلنَّارَ
ٱلَّتِى
تُورُونَ
71
Have you considered the fire you kindle?
56:71
ءَأَنتُمْ
أَنشَأْتُمْ
شَجَرَتَهَآ
أَمْ
نَحْنُ
ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ
72
Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it?
56:72
نَحْنُ
جَعَلْنَٰهَا
تَذْكِرَةًۭ
وَمَتَٰعًۭا
لِّلْمُقْوِينَ
73
We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers.
56:73
فَسَبِّحْ
بِٱسْمِ
رَبِّكَ
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
74
Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty.
56:74
فَلَآ
أُقْسِمُ
بِمَوَٰقِعِ
ٱلنُّجُومِ
75
No! I swear by the fallings of the stars
56:75
وَإِنَّهُۥ
لَقَسَمٌۭ
لَّوْ
تَعْلَمُونَ
عَظِيمٌ
76
(and that is indeed a mighty oath, did you but know it)
56:76
إِنَّهُۥ
لَقُرْءَانٌۭ
كَرِيمٌۭ
77
it is surely a noble Koran
56:77
فِى
كِتَٰبٍۢ
مَّكْنُونٍۢ
78
in a hidden Book
56:78
لَّا
يَمَسُّهُۥٓ
إِلَّا
ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ
79
none but the purified shall touch,
56:79
تَنزِيلٌۭ
مِّن
رَّبِّ
ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
80
a sending down from the Lord of all Being.
56:80
أَفَبِهَٰذَا
ٱلْحَدِيثِ
أَنتُم
مُّدْهِنُونَ
81
What, do you hold this discourse in disdain,
56:81
وَتَجْعَلُونَ
رِزْقَكُمْ
أَنَّكُمْ
تُكَذِّبُونَ
82
and do you make it your living to cry lies?
56:82
فَلَوْلَآ
إِذَا
بَلَغَتِ
ٱلْحُلْقُومَ
83
Why, but when the soul leaps to the throat of the dying
56:83
وَأَنتُمْ
حِينَئِذٍۢ
تَنظُرُونَ
84
and that hour you are watching
56:84
وَنَحْنُ
أَقْرَبُ
إِلَيْهِ
مِنكُمْ
وَلَٰكِن
لَّا
تُبْصِرُونَ
85
(And We are nigher him than you, but you do not see Us)
56:85
فَلَوْلَآ
إِن
كُنتُمْ
غَيْرَ
مَدِينِينَ
86
why, if you are not at Our disposal,
56:86
تَرْجِعُونَهَآ
إِن
كُنتُمْ
صَٰدِقِينَ
87
do you not bring back his soul, if you speak truly?
56:87
فَأَمَّآ
إِن
كَانَ
مِنَ
ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
88
Then, if he be of those brought nigh the Throne,
56:88
فَرَوْحٌۭ
وَرَيْحَانٌۭ
وَجَنَّتُ
نَعِيمٍۢ
89
there shall be repose and ease, and a Garden of Delight;
56:89
وَأَمَّآ
إِن
كَانَ
مِنْ
أَصْحَٰبِ
ٱلْيَمِينِ
90
and if he be a Companion of the Right:
56:90
فَسَلَٰمٌۭ
لَّكَ
مِنْ
أَصْحَٰبِ
ٱلْيَمِينِ
91
'Peace be upon thee, Companion of the Right!'
56:91
وَأَمَّآ
إِن
كَانَ
مِنَ
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
92
But if he be of them that cried lies, and went astray,
56:92
فَنُزُلٌۭ
مِّنْ
حَمِيمٍۢ
93
there shall be a hospitality of boiling water
56:93
وَتَصْلِيَةُ
جَحِيمٍ
94
and the roasting in Hell.
56:94
إِنَّ
هَٰذَا
لَهُوَ
حَقُّ
ٱلْيَقِينِ
95
Surely this is the truth of certainty.
56:95
فَسَبِّحْ
بِٱسْمِ
رَبِّكَ
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
96
Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty.
56:96
